Out in the Styx Caf is surrounded by 3500 hectares of 1000 year old virgin native bush. They have the magnificent Maungatautari Mountain right on their doorstep, and it’s this that they take much pride in. The perfect way to discover this native paradise is to embark on a 6 hour tramp across the Maungatautari Crossing that takes you through the heart, and history of this great mountain. Expert knowledge of the area and connections with The Maungatautari Ecological Trust means this will be one tramping experience you won’t forget.
They like food, real food, real flavor and a real eating experience - no starched table cloths and silverware just solid wood furniture and ‘tuck into’ style food. They are slow food members - meaning the food doesn’t come out of a packet or tin, but is prepared and consumed with pleasure, and with friends, the way it is meant to be. The menu is chosen by Mary, according to whim and weather on the day, and served buffet style so you can have as much as you want.
